   Spirit of One's True Self

The warm wind lapping against my face,
My friends all around me singing in time
With the colours of Spring itself,

Dazzling pigments of green, pink and yellow.

Reaching out through the ground,
Stretching up towards the sky,
I breathe the cool fresh air.

The crisp dyes of blue and white swimming above me.

Tall and erect I stand in the meadow,
As old as the field itself,
I endure heartaches and more.

The crystal tears which help me grow.

Watching lovers come and go.
Women, children and men coming to gaze at the beauty.

Outlasting the age of many others around me.
Withstanding time and war.
I stand strong.
Wrote this for my English 9 poetry anthology. And yes, this WAS written by me! Please do not steal or copy. And if you use it, please credit me. Thanks :)
